A prestigious Smithsonian Affiliations member, the Southern Museum offers visitors a unique perspective into the strategic and economic use of railroads during and after the Civil War. The museum is home to the General locomotive, made famous during the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862, and the Glover Machine Works, a restored belt-driven locomotive assembly line built in 1916. Currently featured is the exhibit Seeking Justice: The Leo Frank Case Revisited which honors the 100th anniversary of the infamous Leo Frank lynching.
