“Railroad Rendezvous is a fun opportunity for families to enjoy the museum and learn about railroad jobs like conductors, gandy dancers, and porters,” said Dr. Richard Banz, the Southern Museum’s Executive Director. “Everyone loves the model train layouts and activities, music, and summer fun. Every year this event gets better and better!”
In addition to the day’s special event activities, visitors can explore the museum’s permanent exhibits including a full-scale replica of The Glover Machine Works, a locomotive factory in nearby Marietta that helped rebuild the South after the war.

|Can I purchase tickets in advance for RRR?
Tickets can be purchased online before the event.
|Will you mail my tickets if I buy them online?
No. We do not mail physical tickets purchased online. You'll receive a receipt that you can print out or show on your phone on the day of the event. We'll also have a will-call list with presale ticket purchaser's names.
|How can I board the General?
Everyone is welcome to board! It is $5/person to board, with proceeds benefiting the Kennesaw Museum Foundation.
|What type of tickets to I need to Board the General?
You will need a Railroad Rendezvous admission ticket, as well as a special "Board the General" ticket. Tickets for the event can be found on the Museum's Ticket page. On the day of the event, you'll receive a wrist band for both admission and Board the General that will serve as your ticket.
|Can I buy Board the General tickets the day of the event?
Yes! "Board the General" tickets are available online and at the door. You'll receive a wristband for admission and a separate one for Boarding the General.
|Where can I park?
There is parking at Depot park, behind the Museum, and in the adjacent church parking lot. There is also public parking on the first floor of the parking garage
|Can I bring a stroller to the event?
While strollers are not banned, for space issues we encourage those with children to hold them or bring small umbrella-style strollers.
|What happens if it rains?
RRR will take place rain or shine. In the case of rain, outdoor activities will be moved indoors. Don't worry, you'll still be able to enjoy the fun activities we have planned!
|Will there be food available to buy for lunch?
Yes! In addition to the local restaurants that you can walk to, the Lion's Club will have hamburgers and hotdogs for sale on the front lawn.
|What is the best time to come to avoid the crowds?
During special events, mornings are typically the busiest. While we cannot guarantee less of a crowd in the afternoon, chances are better that there will be fewer people.

|Will there be train layouts at RRR?
Of course! The Museum plans to have train layouts, as well as railroad-themed activities.
|Is there anything for the kids to do?
Yes! We have a variety of fun activities for kids. They can try out different railroad jobs, including engineers, conductors, and porters.
|How old do my kids need to be to participate?
The activities are designed for kids aged 2-9, but all children are welcome! Younger kids may need the help of an adult.
|Can members attend the event for free?
Yes! All members are free during Railroad Rendezvous.
|Will members need to pay extra to board the General?
Yes. Members that would like to board the General will need to pay $5/person. Tickets may be purchases online or at the door.
|Can I purchase a membership during Railroad Rendezvous?
Of course! Staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you have about our membership program.
