Railroad Rendezvous 2017
Join us for Railroad Rendezvous at the Southern Museum on July 15 from 9:30am until 5:00pm! This year, the museum is introducing new and exciting family-friendly activities for kids of all ages. Guests will have the opportunity to marvel at a special model train layout as well as the museums’ own layout where kids can even decorate and add their own personalized buildings! Along with other crafts and hands-on activities, guests will have the rare opportunity to board the famous General locomotive (for a small additional fee).

Hop aboard the General and soak up the memories!”
As in years past, bluegrass bands will bring festive music to the event. Our littlest visitors will even be create their own hand-made instruments! During the event, be sure to stop by the photo booth, specially set up for Railroad Rendezvous and share your memories using #SummerAtTheSouthern.

|Can I purchase tickets in advance for the event?
Yes! Tickets can be purchased online on our website before the event. Pre-sale tickets will be available until 5:00pm Friday, July 14.
|Where do I check in?
If you purchase pre-sale tickets online, please check in at the "Will Call” table set up in the lobby.
|Can I purchase tickets for someone else?
Yes! You can purchase pre-sale tickets for someone else and they will use your name to check in.
|Are pre-sale tickets refundable?
Pre-sale tickets are not refundable, but unused tickets may be redeemed for Museum admission at a later date.
|Parking & Logistics:|
|Where can I park for the event?
There is parking at Depot park, behind the Museum, and in the adjacent church parking lot. There is also public parking on the first floor of the parking garage.
|Can I bring a stroller to the event?
Strollers are allowed but it may be a challenge to navigate them inside the museum.
|What happens if it rains?
The event will take place rain or shine. All train layouts will be indoors.
|What is the best time to come to avoid the crowds?
Anytime is a great time to attend! Train layouts and activities are spread throughout the Museum’s 50,000 square feet, so there is plenty of room for all attendees.

|Will there be train models at Railroad Rendezvous?
Of course! The Museum will have its own layout and the Atlanta Coast S-Guagers will be joining us in the Cobb Gallery!
|Will there be anything else to do?
Yes! Kids can learn about railroad jobs, make lots of crafts, listen to bluegrass music, interact with train layouts, and more!.
|What ages is this event for?
The activities are designed for kids aged 2-9, but all children are welcome! Younger kids may need the help of an adult.
|Can members attend the event for free?
Yes! Special events are always free for museum members.
|Can members bring guests?
Absolutely, but guests will need to purchase a ticket separately. We encourage guests of Members to purchase pre-sale tickets to avoid waiting in the ticketing lines.
|Do members pay extra to board the General locomotive?
Yes. Members that would like to board the General will need to pay $5 per person. Tickets may be purchases online or at the door.
|Can I purchase a membership during the event?
Of course! Staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you have about our membership program.
