Description: This collection consists of a pamphlet marking the dedication of a historical marker for Jacob W. Parrott. Mr. Parrott was one of the first recipients of the Medal of Honor. He earned it for his involvement in the stealing of the “General”, a Confederate locomotive, in hopes of destroying the railroad track between Atlanta and Chattanooga. This event is commonly referred to as the Great Locomotive Chase or Andrews Raid and took place in April of 1862.
