Roy M. Harcourt Southern Railway System Collection

Provenance:

Roy M. Harcourt donated his collection of Southern Railway materials to the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History Archives and Library on 21 February 2006 and April 2006.

Mr. Harcourt, Superintendent of Terminal Operations at Atlanta, retired after 42 years of service to the Southern Railway System on February 1, 1983.

Roy’s collection consists of original documents including wall calendars, monthly calendars, railroad passes, rail yard plans, maps, railroad history written by Kennesaw resident, rule books, safety booklets, photographs, advertising materials, and personal papers. His most recent donation also contains a Civil War era photograph of Private Chaffer of U.S. Troop K, 6th Calvary, and 1861-1862.

Single photocopies may be made for research purposes for a small fee. Permission to publish materials from this collection must be obtained from the Director of Library/Archives.
