Fall into Family Fun at the Southern Museum!

09/15/2007

KENNESAW, GA Children can experience history firsthand this October with an exciting new workshop series at the Southern Museum.

The stimulating, hands-on Children’s History Workshops bring captivating history activities to children ages seven and up. Children will discover fun games of the 19th century, explore Civil War photography, take home interactive projects from their workshops, and much more.

For younger children, the Southern Museum offers the fun and educational Mommy & Me programs. Using the museum’s history, themes and exhibits, three to five-year-olds and their parents explore and imagine a variety of exciting topics.

Pirates, settlers, and even Georgia founder, James Oglethorpe, will amuse the whole family October 13 from 4 pm – 9 pm, during Folk Tales of the Rails. This annual event is presented by the Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department and will take place in downtown Kennesaw and inside the Southern Museum. Entertainment will consist of storytelling, hayrides, treasure hunts and much more. Museum admission will be reduced during the event.

“Every year the Museum looks forward to working with Kennesaw Parks & Recreation to put on this fun-filled event,” said Harper Harris, the Southern Museum’s lead interpreter. “It’s a great way to kick off the fall weather!”
