Exhibition to Go Out with a Bang
KENNESAW, GA The Smithsonian Institution photography exhibition These Rare Lands will depart with a bang this weekend, thanks to a Civil War encampment of soldiers from the 125th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Saturday, March 20.
The 125th Ohio re-enactment group will encamp at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History Saturday where they will hold soldier drills and recruiting activities, with musket firing demonstrations at 11:00 AM,1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Civil War music is also planned during the free event.
In addition, the Museum will offer programs throughout the day, between 11 AM and 4 PM that are free with admission. We want to bring history to life for our visitors, explained Museum Director of Education Jennifer Legates.
Possible programs may include guided tours, as well as Civil War photography and music programs and weapons demonstrations.
Well have a lot going on this weekend, Legates revealed. Plus it will be the last opportunity our community has to see Stan Jorstads amazing photography of our National Parks in These Rare Lands.
These Rare Lands is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. Photographs contained in These Rare Lands appear courtesy of Time Inc. The exhibition has been made possible through the generous support of Galyans.
