Mommy & Me Preschool Program
Join us each Thursday from 9:30am – 12:30 pm for Mommy & Me! Our program is specifically designed for children aged 3-5 and their caregivers. Discover and explore the world around us through play! Create, experiment, investigate, and learn together. Each week has a different theme, and lots of fun new activities to play with. This program is included in museum admission and free for museum members.
Homeschool Workshop Series
Investigate STEAM-Powered fun at our Homeschool Workshops! Discover new train-themed concepts and apply them to your own invention, art project, machine, or game. Workshops are multidisciplinary and can include hands-on projects, games, guided activities, tours, and demonstrations. $5 for participants and accompanying adults (includes admission to the museum).

Sensory Friendly Afternoons
Join us on the last Tuesday of each month for a Sensory Friendly Afternoon! From 2:00pm - 5:00pm, the museum will be transformed into a sensory-friendly environment. We welcome visitors with Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory processing issues, or special needs to explore the Museum at their own pace. All ages are welcome.
Included with general admission.
Free for members!
Sundays at the Southern
Our education staff offers a series of topical tours relevant to museum exhibits on select Sunday afternoons at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Tours are free with regular admission.
